About Me

I am a young professional who loves to cook.  The story goes that when I was a toddler, I asked Santa for a big wooden spoon like Julia’s.   I think Julia Child and Jeff Smith (of the Frugal Gourmet) outranked Mr. Rogers for me.

March 1988: Cooking up a Storm with my Big Wooden Spoon

I became a vegetarian when I was in fourth grade because the sight of bloody meat had me thinking that eating animals wasn’t the best ideas.  Then my pet gerbil died and I realized that he had been a living being and eating meat just didn’t feel right.  I eventually became a vegan when I moved beyond the uncomfortable thoughts that eating meat gave me really thought about how many resources were being wasted on using animals to produce food.

If you read my blog, you will see a wide variety of foods.  I will freely admit that my tastes have changed over the years.  I now tend to avoid highly processed foods. These days, my favorite recipes are ones that I can make in big batches on the weekend, freeze, and reheat for weeknight meals.
